Beginners Introduction To GolfCategory: Experiences Availability: Saturdays (most venues), Sundays (Hertfordshire only) or weekday dates from May to October. Summer weekends are very busy - book as early as possible. Weather: The weather shouldn't affect your experience, but in the rare case of cancellation, Marriott will call you the evening before your experience to advise. Duration: Expect to be at the club for around three hours in total including registration, two hours of tuition and time for lunch. Numbers On Day: There will be six to eight people taking part, with one golf professional on hand. Spectators: Guests are welcome at all of the country clubs and can use the bar and restaurant facilities while they are waiting for you. Dress Code: Wear trainers. No denims or tracksuit bottoms please. Bear in mind that for most of your experience you'll be outdoors. Golf equipment can be provided, or you're welcome to bring along your own. Guidelines: You'll receive further location details when you have booked a date. Restrictions: Minimum age is 15. This experience is for complete beginners. Anyone with a golf handicap should choose the Intermediate Golf Masterclass (ref: XGOFB). Description: Golf isn't a sport that a beginner should best try without any coaching first, so head to a Marriott Golf Academy for the perfect introduction. Start off with a coffee before going to the academy or the driving range and spend the first hour on the basics of what is called the long game (long refers to the length of the shot, not the length of the game), including how to swing the club and strike the ball. During the second hour, learn some of the basics of the short game, including chipping and putting. A ten pound voucher towards lunch at the Marriott restaurant is included, along with a copy of the specially-produced 'Learn to Play Golf' programme. Weekends, particularly in summer, can get booked up far in advance. We don't offer Sunday availability at some hotels due to the main restaurant being closed.
