Introductory Rally Driving In ScotlandCategory: Driving Availability: Selected weekday and weekend dates throughout the year. Summer weekends are always busy - book at least six weeks in advance. Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions which would make driving at speed dangerous. Please call the venue if in any doubt. Duration: Your experience lasts for up to two and a half hours, including a briefing, tuition, driving time, debrief and certificate presentation. It is vital that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. Numbers On Day: There will be a maximum of 21 people taking part. Spectators: Spectators are welcome and there are basic cafe facilities on site. Please note that pets are not permitted at the circuit. Dress Code: Wear flat shoes which are comfortable for driving. Dress comfortably and warmly. Helmets will be provided, but if you have your own you're welcome to bring it along. Guidelines: From Edinburgh: take the M90 across the Forth Road Bridge towards Dunfermline then join the B914 at junction 4 (signed Kelty) then go onto the A823 - Knockhill is on the right. Alternatively from Glasgow: follow the A977 to Powmill and take the turn off to join the A823 as noted above. Restrictions: You need a full manual driving licence - bring it with you on the day. Well, find out for yourself behind the wheel of a rally-prepared Group N two-litre Sierra. Discover the secrets of skid oversteer and understeer on Knockhill's purpose-built off-track rally stage - one of the venues of the RSAC International Scottish Rally. Your experience starts with a briefing on technique and safety before you receive some one-to-one tuition on how to control the rally car. You'll be marked on your driving skills on a final stage assessment, before a white knuckle high-speed demo run by your instructor as a finale. Rally Driving Experience In YorkshireCategory: Driving Availability: At least one date per month (runs selected Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays). Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions which would make driving at speed dangerous. Please call the venue if in any doubt. Duration: Your experience lasts around three hours, including briefings, demonstrations and personal driving time. Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure a prompt start. Numbers On Day: There will be a maximum of five people per car/instructor. Total numbers at the venue will vary. During the driving bit, only you and the instructor will be in the vehicle. Spectators: Spectators (over eight years only please) are welcome for a fee of £15 each (includes lunch and refreshments, payable on the day). Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Covered facilities are available for spectators. Dress Code: Wear flat shoes which are comfortable for driving (chunky boots or trainers aren't recommended). Bring a jacket or coat. Helmets with intercoms will be provided. Guidelines: From the A19 on Teesside, take the A174 to Brotton, via Redcar and Saltburn. In Brotton, follow the brown tourist signs for the golf club, taking the second left at St. Margarets Way. Go through the housing estate and over two speed bumps. The road bears left onto Ings Lane, over another speed bump. Go past the golf club and bear right, down the hill. Restrictions: You need a full, current manual driving licence - bring it with you on the day. Other Info: The venue is a founder member of the British Association of Rally Schools, recognised by the Motor Sports Association (the governing body of motor sport). Description: Experience the fast and furious nature of a rally driving experience at the Chris Birkbeck Rally School in Yorkshire. Controlling a rally car at high speed is a unique skill, and these activity days open your eyes to the different driving techniques that professional rally drivers master! Guide your way through powerslides and handbrake turns before enjoying a high-speed demonstration by your qualified instructor of the circuit's rally stage - so you can appreciate the thrill of professional rally driving. Rally driving recipients will be treated to a lunch as part of your day, as well as a debrief presentation and time to assess your individual rally driving achievements.
