Day At Diggerland For FourCategory: Extreme Availability: The park is open at weekends and bank holidays from February to October and seven days a week during school holidays. It closes during November, December and January. Weather: Diggerland is predominantly an outdoor experience but, although rare, they may restrict some rides in the event of very poor weather. Duration: The parks open at 10am and you are free to stay until 5pm (or 4pm in February, March and October). Numbers On Day: Spectators: Any additional adults or children (aged 3 and over) can pay on the day to enter Diggerland. The parks do not allow entry of dogs, with the exception of guide dogs. Why not take your own picnic? Dress Code: Please dress for comfort and wear suitable footwear such as trainers or wellies. There is a chance that you may get a little muddy, so bringing a change of footwear is a good idea. Guidelines: Exit M62 at junction 31 and take the A655 towards Castleford. Diggerland is located half a mile along the A655, immediately before the petrol station. The closest railway station is Castleford. Restrictions: Children (under 13) must be accompanied and supervised by their guardian(s). Under 5's are restricted or need to be accompanied on some rides/activities. Height restrictions apply on all rides/activities and those under 90cms are too small for diggers. Other Info: Diggerland does not permit the use of bbqs. Although not included in the price, empty tummies can be refuelled at The Dig Inn, with a selection of snacks, burgers, salads etc (be aware credit cards are not accepted in the food area). The idea was the brainchild of Hugh Edeleanu, Chairman of HE Services (Plant Hire) Ltd, the largest supplier of construction machinery hire in Europe. He hit on the idea following Plant Hire family open days where the children's fascination of machinery and their enjoyment levels were obvious. The concept of Diggerland was born, with the first park opened in Kent during 2000. The popularity continued to grow and by 2007 there were four parks nationwide, each one offering over 16 rides and drives based on construction machinery. Come and see what it's all about.
