Surfing Experience In North Yorkshire Category: Water Experiences Availability: Every weekend from May until the end of October. Weekday dates can be made available on request, please check with us. Weather: You must call the day before to confirm weather go ahead. Conditions on the day determine the best surfing location. For your safety, if instructors deem that conditions are unsuitable, they will directly rebook you for another mutually convenient date. Duration: Your morning lesson lasts for around two hours. Please arrive promptly to meet the instructors beforehand. There is a break for lunch, and you can then spend as long as you like in the afternoon putting your new skills to use. Numbers On Day: You will be split into groups with a maximum of 10 people per instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch from the beach. Dress Code: Bring a swimming costume, towel, waterproof sunblock, sunglasses and warm clothing. All surfing equipment will be supplied. Guidelines: Northbound, exit the M1 at junction 47 onto A1(M) until junction 49. Merge onto A168 Thirsk, continue onto A19 until Parkway Roundabout, then take 3rd exit onto A174. At Quarry Lane roundabout take 2nd exit onto Marske Road, turn left onto Glenside and bear left onto Marine Parade. Southbound or from Middlesbrough take the A66 Teesport, join the A174 towards Saltburn and follow instructions above. Restrictions: Minimum age is 12. You must be able to swim a minimum of 50 metres and have a good level of fitness. You'll be asked to sign a fitness declaration on the day. Other Info: Lunch is not included but the surf school can recommend good local amenities. You'll receive a full information pack, including a health declaration form and accommodation guide, two weeks before your booked date - please call us if you don't receive it. Description: Embark on a fun-fuelled surfing adventure in Cleveland, North Yorkshire. The school is fully accredited by the British Surfing Association and has a full team of qualified instructors to teach how to ride the waves like a true surf star. In the morning get kitted out with a wetsuit and a surf board before being taught how to keep safe while on the board, as well as how to paddle, all about trim and steering and how to stand up. For your safety, if instructors deem that conditions are unsuitable, you will be given a voucher to redeem at your convenience. Duration: Your morning lesson lasts for around two hours. Please arrive at 9.30am to meet the instructors beforehand. There is a break for lunch, and you will spend the afternoon putting your new skills to use (finish around 4.30pm). Numbers On Day: Numbers on the day will vary but you will be split into groups with a maximum of 10 people per instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch from the beach. Dress Code: Bring a swimming costume, towel, waterproof sunblock, sunglasses and clothing suitable for the weather on the day. All surfing equipment will be supplied. Guidelines: Full details and directions will be e-mailed to you at least a week in advance of your confirmed booking. Restrictions: Minimum age is 8 but any participants under 16 must bring a parent/guardian as a spectator. You must be able to swim a minimum of 25 metres and have a good level of fitness. You'll be asked to sign a fitness declaration on the day. Other Info: Lunch is not included but there is a good pub and a burger van nearby. Description: Surfing is a great form of exercise and can be lots of fun. Take a surfing lesson at great this surf school in Padstow, Cornwall and learn basic paddling techniques, how to catch waves and methods for standing up. After a demonstration on basic board use and control, the afternoon will be dedicated to putting theory into practice and perfecting skills. An instructor (who will be qualified in first aid as well as being SLSA lifeguard and RLSS Beach Lifeguard qualifications) will remain on hand to give offer tips and suggestions as you build confidence and attempt larger waves.
