Description: Imagine a wind tunnel that could be used for testing the aerodynamics of an F1 racing car, turn it upright, jump onto the airflow and you are skydiving. It's a proven concept operating in several countries to the benefit of the skydiving community and anyone else who wishes to taste the thrill of freefall in a completely safe environment. After check-in there's a short class with a video brief and instruction, then it's off to collect your flight gear. You and your group will enter the tunnel and take it in turns to fly. You each get two flights of one minute each that's about the same as three tandem skydives. In your first flights you will learn the basic freefall position. Kids Indoor Skydiving For Two ManchesterCategory: Experiences Availability: Weekdays from 3pm until 5.30pm during term time and school summer holidays. Not available during Easter, Christmas or half term holidays. Weather: The tunnel is indoors and isn't affected by the weather. Duration: Expect to be onsite for around one and a half hours, including 20 min safety briefing, kit issue (15 mins), two 60 second body flying sessions (each) and full debrief. The time given is your report time, please check in no more than five minutes before. Numbers On Day: Your training may be shared in a group of up to 12. Your flights are held on a one-to-one basis with just you and your fully-qualified instructor in the wind tunnel - you won't jump together, but you can watch each other's flights from the gallery. Spectators: Facilities are excellent and make for a good family outing. Spectators can watch the action from the free viewing gallery. Dress Code: No jewellery or collared shirts. Please wear tight-fitting lace-up trainers (not boots). If you don't wear suitable footwear you'll be required to hire and wear trainers. Jumpsuits and other equipment provided. Lockers £1. Guidelines: Airkix is situated next to the Chill Factore indoor ski slope, opposite the Trafford Centre and conveniently located off junction 10 of M60 motorway. After exiting the motorway, head towards The Trafford Centre and turn left at the brown tourist sign 'Trafford Quays Leisure Village' by the Premier Inn. At the roundabout turn left, signed 'Ski Slope'. Follow the sign and you will see Airkix on the left, just past Chill Factore. Restrictions: Min age 5. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Max weight 18st. Anyone who's reasonably fit, can fly. If you're pregnant, have heart, back or neck problems or have ever dislocated a shoulder you can't fly. Other Info: Description: If you've always wanted to learn how to skydive but don't like the thought of jumping out of a plane, this junior indoor body flying for two is a great alternative. Step inside a 120 mph wind tunnel and experience a skydiving sensation. You and your friend will be briefed by the instructor and will receive all the necessary equipment and helpful hints so you get the most out of your indoor skydiving session. Step into the tunnel together with the instructor and you'll be lifted into the air for two 60 second sessions (during a skydive from 10,000 feet you would experience around 30 seconds of freefall).
