Gliding With An Aerotow For Teens Category: Flying Gifts Ride the thermals Description: After your first flight you'll be hooked on this superb sport. Why? It's much more challenging than powered flight - you need a lot of skill to keep a glider airborne - knowing how to recognise lift (rising air), where to find it and how to use it. But it's also great fun - effectively you become just like a bird - you often rise up in thermals alongside birds! You will be towed into the air by a powered aircraft. After a pre-flight briefing, you will be strapped into the glider with your instructor. The glider is attached to another aircraft which will tow you into the sky! Once the cable is released you search out some thermals and then gently glide back down to earth. Unforgettable! The length of the flight itself will vary according to weather conditions, but is likely to be around 15 to 20 minutes. At some locations you may get two winch launched flights or one soaring flight instead. Delivery cost: 0.00 Review this product |

Aerotow Gliding FlightCategory: Flying Availability: Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday afternoons during the gliding season (March to October). We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance, even earlier for summer weekend dates. Weather: Gliding is weather dependent. It is crucial that you call the club for a weather check and to confirm the time of your flight between 8am and 9.30am on the day (or the day before if you'll be travelling a long way). Duration: The length of glider flights depends entirely on the prevailing thermals (currents of warmer air that provide the lift). As a guide your aerotow flight should last for between 12 and 20 minutes. Numbers On Day: Your briefing might be shared, your flight will be held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome. A camera or a pair of binoculars will come in handy. Dress Code: Wear flat-soled shoes and bring a jumper with you in case it gets cold at higher altitudes. Bring gloves in winter and sunblock and a hat in summer. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: From the A377 at Umberleigh follow the road to Exeter to Kingford and turn right up the hill then at the top of the hill turn left onto the B3217. Turn left at the Radar Station towards Ashreigney then after 400 metres, at the crossroads turn right. The closest rail station is Umberleigh. Restrictions: Maximum height is 6'4''. Maximum weight is 17 stone. There is no formal minimum age. You can't fly if you suffer from epilepsy, fainting or certain other physical or mental disabilities - check when booking. Other Info: The venue operates as a non-profit-making club and you may be asked to help others launch and retrieve their gliders while you wait your turn to glide. Description: Head to the clouds and enjoy the pure tranquillity of an aerotow gliding flight. On arrival, a qualified instructor will talk through safety, the aircraft and the flight ahead. Next it's time to board a dual-controlled glider ready for take-off. Get towed to heights of around 2,000 ft and enjoy the picturesque scenery, before the rope is dropped and the glider soars tranquilly in the thermal currents. During the flight, the pilot will hand over the controls so sample the joy that goes with flying an aircraft. Delivery time: Options include Delivery cost: 0.00 Review this product |
