Perhaps that's a stretch, but this neat little Fuel Cell Kit Car, does come kind of flat packed and is pretty darn green. The concept is fairly simple, and the execution is fabulous. Much like Airfix models of old, the car comes in snap off sheets, but unlike old-fashioned models it only takes about ten to fifteen minutes to build, and doesn't require any glue. Once you've constructed your very cool looking little Fuel Cell Car, all you have to do to power it up is add a few drops of home-made salt water and off it races. Its a pocket size little eco-sports car and science lesson in one. We just wonder what a full sized version of this would be like, though we imagine there would be inherent difficulties in pouring buckets of seawater into the boot of your car every time you wanted to take a spin. The power comes from a chemical reaction between salt water and magnesium, and a few drops of water will allow the car to run for about ten to fifteen minutes. Great for zipping about your desk or across the floor at home, and a fun way for the kids to get a quick lesson in eco-friendly energy. First find some fearless friends who laugh in the face of danger, then select your shock level on the unit (how tough are you). Now each player picks up a handset and you press the start button. Seconds stretch like hours as you all wait for the light to go green, then you all press the button on your handset as quickly as you can. The fastest person gloats, while the other players all get zapped. So you don't need lightning reactions, you just need friends with really rubbish ones. Oh and if you try to hit your button early you get zapped for cheating. There's anther mode to the game where you do the same as before, but it's only the slowest person who gets their socks blown off. It's a highly competitive and heart-racing game that will have you all yelping late into the night. Gyro Master 4 Helicopter Category: Gadgets Description: The Gyro Master 4 Channel helicopter is a great leap forward (and indeed sideways) in the world of affordable indoor flying helicopters. Being a Gyro it's so stable a horse could live in it, and much as we are all getting used to being able to fly helicopters now without a degree in aeronautical engineering, adding a fourth channel should do your head in, but with this little marvel, it doesn't. So what does 4 channel mean? 2 channel is up and down only, 3 channel is up and down, left and right and forwards and back wards, 3 channel gyro is all of that without you crashing into a pot plant or having a seizure, and 4 channel gyro is a sort of heavenly nirvana, as it adds sideways to the mix and is as close to flying a real helicopter as it gets, but considerably easier and without the expense of landing fees. Now you can do proper helicopter sweeping turns, sidle up to your landing pad, and in the case of the Gyro Master 4, look a little like a pilot out of the movie Avatar. It charges via USB, has a dinky spotlight in the nose for night flying, comes with spare main, tail and side rotors, and looks really very cool indeed. Tankbot Category: Gadgets Description: Tankbot is the very latest in micro-robotic desk pets. If you mated Wall-E with Eve you’d very probably come up with Tankbot. This tracked little robot manages to be both androgynous and anthropomorphic at the same time, and it’s really clever too. If only we could all have children like that (maybe not). Controlled via a free App on your iPod, iTouch, iPad, iPhone or Android phone (the Tankbot comes with an IR dongle that attaches to your device) this brilliant little robot has multiple functions as well as some rather fun noises. Multi-directional, he (or she, it’s up to you) has an Autonomous Mode, which basically means it can navigate mazes, you build a little maze for it on your desk and it’ll trundle round it, working the route out as it goes.
